Technology includes IT, internet, healthcare and cleantech. Energy includes oil services, exploration and production, midstream, power and renewables.
Quadrille Capital provides access to the best-performing funds in these fields worldwide, as well as to some of these funds’ portfolios’ best companies through direct investments. We also build customized partnerships with corporate groups.
Quadrille Capital has carried out some 75 direct investments in companies and 75 commitments to funds. These are evenly spread across the Western US, Eastern US and Europe. We have approximately $500m under management.
Our diversified client base includes global financial institutions, sophisticated family offices and some of the world’s leading corporate groups.
Quadrille Capital invests directly in private technology and energy companies worldwide, generally as they reach their growth phase.
In each deal, we seek to be a preferred partner of funds and corporate groups. We can either act as lead investor in coordination with them, or as a co-investor alongside them.
20,000 companies have been financed since 2000 by the funds we cover. Most of the companies we have backed so far are based in the US and in Europe.
Technology and energy are the only two sectors so far in private equity with a deep ecosystem of specialized funds.
Half of their managers are based in the US. The other half is spread equally across Europe and Asia. Quadrille Capital works closely with them as partners to invest locally in companies.
We have made commitments to 75 funds, selected amongst a list of 1,250 technology and 400 energy funds we cover worldwide.
Corporate groups and fund managers are increasingly joining forces in the financing of break-through innovation and capital intensive scale-ups.
Quadrille Capital has developed processes to help corporate groups access new technologies financed by companies and funds, to the benefit of all parties.
Three partnerships have been built with EDF, Air Liquide and Dalkia, each being an investor in our programs. We are in relations with more than 20 groups.
Quadrille Capital started as Quilvest Ventures, the technology and energy investment arm of Quilvest, a family-owned financial institution with $36bn under management and 40 years’ experience in private equity.
In 2012, the management team bought out Quilvest’s majority stake in Quilvest Ventures, which it renamed Quadrille Capital.
Following this spin-off, Quadrille Capital continues to run the same funds with the same investment strategy and team, which has significantly expanded assets under management to approximately $500m.
The investment team comprises four senior members and one venture partner based in Paris, an advisor based in San Francisco and four external members serving on the investment and strategy committees, as well as supporting administrative and financial analysts and managers.
